13. Dancin’ in the Street

When we left our restoration work yesterday, we noticed that they were setting up a large stage in the town piazza. After dinner, the streets were packed with people of all ages, all a little dressed up to see and be seen. The occasion? It turned out to be a dance recital of local kids, including a troupe of teenaged boys and girls doing modern dance, black outfits and all.

Postscript : when I went out for my run this morning a 5:15, there was very little trash around, even though hundreds of people had been in attendance. By 6 am (on a Sunday!) the mechanical and human street sweepers had been out, and the piazza was spotless.
